Introduction

I leaned 10 days ago that my book, The Thread of Life, is officially published and is available for purchase at Wipf and Stock. Its hard to believe that the journey of writing and publishing this book is nearing it’s end and I am so excited to share it with you!

I wrote The Thread of Life during the summer of 2020 and presented it to Wipf and Stock in January of 2021. They agreed to publish it in February and now the process is finished — incredible!

The Thread of Life was inspired by a friend of mine who told me the story of how her daughter was lured into the sex trade, was rescued, became a resident of Sarah’s Home, and eventually, through faith in Jesus Christ, along with a lot of love and support, was able to rebuild her life. I was moved by this powerful story. In fact, shortly after hearing it, Jesus called me to write about my own redemption story. I told him, “No!” and asked Him why anyone would want to read a story about overcoming childhood sexual abuse? He urged me over and over again until I gave in and began writing. I never imagined it would turn into a published book!

Writing my story was not easy. I had to summarize different events and experiences into singular moments in time. In the process, I had to relive them; to think about them and the mindset that I’d had during those experiences. Many of them, I did not want to relive or think about. They were painful and reopened the door to past hurts that I’d previously dealt with and filed away. But in the process, I also reflected on Jesus’ continual presence with in my life, relived the joy of being fully healed by Jesus, and the beauty He has since instilled within my life. I am blessed; I found the love of my life, am the mother of two incredible sons, work in a profession that I feel called to serve in, have the opportunity to write, and live each and everyday to its fullest extent. I walk hand in hand with Jesus, and although I am fallible and fumble continuously along the way, I grow daily in my relationship with Him.

It is my hope that readers will see the enduring love of Jesus within the words of my poetry and that these words will inspire new and renewed relationships with Him. I pray that He will rescue others from the darkness prevailing with in their lives and will fill them with His light, love, peace, and joy.
