Heather loves to be in nature. In fact, she spends most of her spare time enjoying the beautiful Colorado outdoor playground with her husband and two sons. Heather and her family’s favorite activities include skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, camping, golfing, dirt biking, and mountain biking. She also enjoys sitting on her deck or around a fire with family and friends, reading or working on her poetry.

Heather’s love for writing began while she was in middle school and eventually led her to Michigan State University where she obtained double bachelor degrees in English and German Secondary Education. Shortly after graduating, she moved from her home state of Michigan to Colorado with her husband. Once in Colorado, she worked as the Records Manager for a local community college until she changed career paths and received her Bachelor of Nursing degree from the University of Colorado. Currently, she works as a full-time peri-operative nurse for an ambulatory surgery center in the Denver Metro area. Heather appreciates her role as a nurse because she is able to simultaneously care for patients while also teaching them and their family members how to care for themselves.

Writing poetry is one of Heather’s greatest passions. She thrives on the intricate play of words, their sounds, meanings, ability to stir one’s emotions and thoughts, and to create visual images with in a person's mind. She enjoys their complexity and their beauty. She finds inspiration for her writing from everyday life as a wife and mother, through her profession as a nurse, from the time she spends in nature, and through her quiet times with Jesus Christ. She hopes that readers will see Jesus within her poetry and that it will inspire them to seek a deeper love and appreciation for Him or a personal relationship with Him.
