Heather Masco is the author of The Thread of Life, a redemption story about forgiveness and hope. Published by Resource Publications, an imprint of Wipf and Stock Publishers, it is currently available for purchase through Wipf and Stock and Amazon. It is also available through Ingram and Kindle.

Heather Masco uses poetry to bring a difficult topic to life for readers.

“I wanted to provide individuals of trauma with a pathway to healing that was easy to digest, while offering them hope that spiritual healing in Jesus Christ is not a figment, but is possible and attainable. There are numerous self-help books, both Christian and secular, along with inspirational biographies, available to survivors; but most of these are over 200 pages in length and require a certain amount of fortitude to read. Many individuals are not willing to under take the complexities of such books, even though they are exceptionally well written and helpful. Instead, I wanted this short story to unfold like a movie reel for readers. I wanted it to be succinct and useful to individuals dealing with trauma, while providing their family members and loved ones with a small glimpse into what the healing process for a survivor might look like.”

As the warm reds

and browns of

autumn fade

into the glittering

white of winter,

nourishing the soil

for the green

birth of spring—

Jesus mended,

cut, stitched,

and gathered

my torn spirit

into the makings

of a beautiful

masterpiece.
